Speaking to Açoriano Oriental, Soraia Costa explains that the brand is based “on the concept of national quality children's clothing, made from organic materials, for ages between 0 and 10 years old, offering sustainable and handcrafted solutions”.

“Azores Playground intends to intertwine the past with the future. The past by showing the rich arts of the Azores archipelago and its culture; the future by committing to sustainability, by wanting the best for future generations and for the planet. Everything in the brand is based on sustainability, not only the fabrics, but also the labels, which consist of seeds to plant. The packaging is made from recycled cardboard and, in the near future, these will be reusable; the brand already has ideas for its reuse”, Costa explains.

According to the fashion designer, Azores Playground started with a small collection of bodies called Heritage, “to make the project known”, and has now launched its first autumn/winter collection, called Essência.

“It is a collection inspired by nature, the Azorean flora, as well as the brand's slogan. The inspiration comes from the landscapes, the imposing sea, and the shades that you can only be found in the Azores. The collection presents the richness of the archipelago's artisanal arts, starting with embroideries and hydrangeas”, Soraia Costa emphasizes.

She also explains that all clothing items are personalized and made especially for the customer. “As soon as Azores Playground gets an order on its website, the piece's production process starts and the customer receives an email indicating the delivery time”, she explains, noting that “each piece of clothing tells a story”.
“From materials to manufacture, every detail is thought through, so as to offer the customer the best product, always maintaining a balanced relationship between price and quality”, she emphasizes.

Currently, the brand's clothes are 100% organic cotton, but Soraia Costa also wants to make a bet on circular economy fabrics, by promoting their reuse.
Despite working in digital marketing and living in Porto, Soraia Costa's project is in virtual incubation on the island of Santa Maria. The items are produced according to her design and by a team of three people working in São Miguel and on the mainland.

“There is a lady who does the embroidery in Povoação, a lady who knits in an artisanal machine in Porto and another lady, also in Porto, who makes the fabrics”, she explains, adding that, “in the future, the goal will be for the brand to be 100% Azorean”.

According to the fashion designer, Azores Playground pieces can be delivered anywhere in the world, with articles already available, for example, in Canada.
