Santa Clara at UEFA competitions

The Azoreans' 4-0 triumph over Farense not only allowed the team to reach its best ranking and score in the first league, but also ensured its presence in the UEFA Conference League. Santa Clara will then return, 19 later, to a European competition (the team played only the Intertoto Cup in 2002/2003)

Cryzan, Hide, Allano and Carlos Júnior scored the goals against Farense.

Then came the closing of a dream season for Santa Clara, while Farense returned to the second league of Portuguese football.

However, Farense's players were very bold at the beginning of the match. Under high pressure, Jorge Costa's team started well and created the first two occasions for goal.  The second was perhaps the last goal opportunity for Farense. Fabrício Isidoro shot to the wrong side.

Not being able to score, and needing to win, anxiety began to take over the team. Also, Santa Clara was stronger.

Gradually, the team started hitting positions and tooking over the game. It did not take long for the Azorean team to start celebrating. It actually happened in the first half hour (Cryzan's goal), then just before the break (Hide's brilliant conclusion) and then at the end (goals by Allano and Carlos Júnior).

And now the Azorean team is back in Europe!
