What are the main concerns of RAEGE Azores? Are there new projects in sight?

The main concern is to ensure and train a team that takes advantage of the scientific and technological potential of the set of infrastructures and equipment that make up these stations. Finally, we have a team and many projects in sight. We are just getting started.

There is a whole lot of information, with very relevant and diversified scientific value, resulting from the activity of the RAEGE in the Azores, but with little practical value for what would be expected for the Region. Why?
Essentially because there is still little installed capacity to make use of much of this information. This is one of RAEGE-Az's greatest goals - to create a center of knowledge and production of science and technology with quality human resources.

When will RAEGE's investment in Flores take off?
RAEGE in Flores has already been launched. The Government of the Azores acquired the land, where it installed a GNSS station - which already contributes with data to the international scientific community - and a meteorological station. These stations provide essential information for the next step - choosing the radio telescope that will best suit the characteristics of the area. This will be a technically complex process, which will dictate the needs of the infrastructure serving as the basis for the radio telescope. I believe that in the next 2-3 years there will be great developments in the implementation of this station.
