In Fenais da Luz a Gastronomic Laboratory was created to safeguard the parish’s old and traditional recipes. An initiative created under the "From Fenais to Fenais" project, which, as revealed to Açoriano Oriental by the president of the parish council, has an even more ambitious goal."With this Laboratory we intend not to lose the recipes; but also to allow a dozen volunteers to cook these delicacies, with a touch of innovation, thus contributing to the training and qualification of those who participate – unemployed people or people included in the Social Integration Income," said Bruno Costa.Costa stressed that the main goal of this project – promoted by Museu Carlos Machado, the Parish Council, Casa do Povo and Núcleo Museológico dos Fenais da Luz – is then the creation of a community company that may employ some of these people. On March 24, the unveiling of the Fenais da Luz Gastronomic Laboratory plaque took place in the Parish Council, followed by a lunch that brought together the entities involved in the project."This day was an opportunity for the volunteers involved in the project to show some of the work they have been developing under this project, in which local products are privileged," Costa explained, highlighting: "It has been very enriching. In the last event we already tasted a lot of the delicacies they made, uniting innovation and traditional flavors".Bruno Costa also stressed that this laboratory is to become another reason to visit the parish: "We want to create an integrated network of attractions in the parish", he said, explaining that the idea is to "introduce our museum in this itinerary" and to "start within a month, or two, a fair of local producers".This project, which is promoted by Museu Carlos Machado, is supported by EEA Grants.
